“Borgo DiVino on tour” in San Giorgio di Valpolicella

From 19 to 21 May, over 100 wine labels will be tasted alongside local specialities from Italy’s most beautiful villages

Italy – On the weekend of 19, 20 and 21 May, the Borgo di San Giorgio di Valpolicella (Verona) will once again be the protagonist of “Borgo DiVino in Tour”, the event promoted by the Association “I Borghi più belli d’Italia” (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), which aims to promote Italian wine excellence in a circuit of some of the most fascinating and characteristic locations on the Peninsula.

The event is organised by Valica, Italy’s first tourist marketing company, in collaboration with the Ecce Italia Consortium and with the patronage of the National Association of Wine Cities. Official sponsors of the series of events are Enel and Poste Italiane, while Trenitalia’s Regionale is the tour’s Official Green Carrier.

It will be three days dedicated to taste and beauty that will allow the public of wine lovers to get to know wines and grape varieties from the various territories presented directly by the producers in a magical place suspended in time such as San Giorgio, a hamlet of the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella certified as one of “Italy’s most beautiful villages”.

A gastronomic area will also be set up to accompany the tastings, where the public will be able to delight in typical local dishes and other specialities from the most beautiful villages in Italy. During the three days it will be possible to taste more than 100 labels from more than 30 wineries in the Valpolicella and Veneto regions and others from Trentino Alto Adige, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania and Sicily. You will be able to taste local wines such as Amarone, Recioto, and the variations of Valpolicella, accompanied by a rich carnet of extra-regional niche productions: ‘The objective of the tour,’ says Luca Cotichini, Marketing Manager of Valica and creator of Borgo diVino, ‘is precisely to promote tourism and food and wine of the hidden excellences in which Italy is so rich. We aim to grow and develop the splendid territories, which are then the real protagonists of Borgo diVino on tour, transforming them into a sort of diffuse exhibition centre. In 2022 we have doubled the number of stops and this year we will touch five more regions. For 2024 we aim to cover the whole country from North to South’. Inside San Giorgio there will be a wine-tasting route that will touch on the points of greatest interest for tourists, with stands dedicated to the wineries and an original educational itinerary on the world of wine, narrated on about 20 exhibition panels.

Each visitor will be able to purchase a voucher at a cost of €18 including 8 wine tastings and a tasting kit consisting of a goblet and bag. Tickets for the tastings can be purchased at www.borgodivino.it or directly on site.
