In Rabat ‘Diva’, an exhibition on Italian fashion jewellery
The Embassy of Italy in Morocco, the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat and the National Museums Foundation are promoting the exhibition ‘DIVA! Italian Glamour in Fashion Jewelry’ which will be staged at the Oudayas, Musée National de la Parure in Rabat, from 24 May to 23 July 2023.
Promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the exhibition aims to present the excellence of Italian fashion jewellery, which contributes to the affirmation of the Made in Italy brand in the world. The exhibition, realised under the artistic direction of Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewellery and Fashion Accessory Design at the Milan Polytechnic, Director of the Museum of Jewellery in the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza and member of the Scientific Committee of the Cologni Foundation in Milan, the Ecole Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris and the Gijs Bakker Foundation in Amsterdam, left Abu Dhabi in 2021 and has been travelling the world ever since.
The exhibition consists of 200 Italian fashion jewellery pieces, one of the best and most refined expressions of national craftsmanship, known globally. Since ancient times, jewellery has been an integral part of clothing, representing one of the protagonists in the history of Italian fashion. Fashion jewellery has represented, and continues to represent, an object of great interest for the fine craftsmanship that has always characterised Italian territories: for designers, who look to innovation and the future, but also for innovative stylists, who since the 1980s have made collaboration with jewellers the distinguishing feature of Made in Italy. It is therefore a unique model of savoir-faire, which manages to combine craftsmanship and technique with the ability to foresee new scenarios, languages and habits, and which is intended to be shared with Morocco and its great tradition of craftsmanship.
