The Roma Whisky Festival returns
Rome – The Roma Whisky Festival is back. On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March 2022, the tenth edition of the Roma Whisky Festival will be held in the elegant setting of the Salone delle Fontane (which has been hosting the eagerly awaited event for some years now), under the artistic direction of Andrea Fofi and with the consultancy of Pino Perrone. The ‘king’ of spirits will be the absolute protagonist for whisky lovers, producers, importers, distributors, traders, whisky makers and bartenders. The complete programme, masterclasses and stands can be found at the official festival link: https://romawhiskyfestival.it/
The Roma Whisky Festival will cover 2,000 square metres of exhibition space: here it will be possible to meet the companies and discover the hundreds of products on offer for tasting. As usual, more than 20 masterclasses for experts and neophytes are scheduled, with the numerous 25-minute ‘ABC of Whisky’ courses for beginners. After a two-year stop,” says Andrea Fofi, “our team, like our thirst for Whisky, has never stopped, on the contrary: we have continued to explore, learn, have fun and grow in the borderless world of Whisky.
Great attention will also be paid to food, with a space entirely dedicated to chocolate, with “Fonderia Dolci & Design” and one to the historic pub Le Bon Bock, which will be present at the RWF with a pub offering English beers on tap and some other delicacies of typical Scottish cuisine. Always an excellent combination with whiskies, cigars will be on tasting thanks to a new partner, the Club Amici del Toscano. During the event it will be possible to taste products and buy bottles, in particular at the Roma Whisky Festival stand the limited editions of the official bottlings of the 10th edition will be on sale. The Caol Ila 15yo – First Fill Bourbon Hogshead is already on pre-order on the Whisky & Co. website and can be picked up at the fair, while the second bottling will be unveiled during the festival. As every year at the festival it will be possible to taste the winning products of the Whisky & Lode Award presented by a jury of experts who, thanks to a blindfolded tasting, will decide the best bottles in the Best World Whisky, Best Single Cask categories. Once again this year, whisky will be celebrated in all its forms. ORO Whisky Bar will highlight the blended version of whisky: the new bar in Viale Giotto, entirely dedicated to whisky, will move into the Salone delle Fontane for one day to further enrich the two-day festival.
A great novelty for this 10th edition is that the festival does not end at the Salone delle Fontane, but with the “Whisky in Town” project involves five venues in the city, already famous centres of whisky culture. ORO Whisky Bar, Jerry Thomas Speakeasy, Treefolk’s Public House, Le Bon Bock and Banana Republic on the evenings of 5 and 6 March will offer a special drink list dedicated to a brand of whisky, expertly served mixed by a guest bartender.
