New Grand Tour of Switzerland photo station in Morcote
Morcote, one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland, is now home to the new Grand Tour of Switzerland photo station. Installed on the pier in front of the Piazza Granda in one of the most panoramic points of the village, it offers 360° photography without losing any of the authentic views of Morcote.
Morcote’s Photo Spot has the particular characteristic, unique in its kind, of allowing visitors to immortalise the Pearl of Ceresio in all its splendour thanks to a frame that rotates at will. Each visitor can therefore frame the entire village from different angles to obtain spectacular images: from the wonderful view of Piazza Granda and the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso to the incredible sunsets towards Porto Ceresio and the many shades that only Lake Lugano is able to offer.
The panoramic station of the Grand Tour of Switzerland is only the last of the initiatives strongly desired by the new municipal administration, which has chosen to offer visitors more and more ideas to appreciate the thousand facets of the village.
“This year we wanted to promote Morcote by focusing on a wide-ranging offer in order to give real emotions” – said Giacomo Caratti, Morcote’s new mayor – “We started in June with Swing The World, We started in June with Swing The World, the swing that is depopulated throughout Ticino and that we have made unique thanks to the collaboration with Radio Morcote International – an initiative that is giving the extraordinary experience of swinging between the sky and the lake to the sound of rock & roll in a place of indescribable charm which is Morcote – and then create and develop new activities to promote the village through culture” – and continues – “It ‘was born so “Summer in Morcote”, the festival of events that revived the village’s cultural tradition through classical music and jazz concerts, moments of pure entertainment and gatherings such as the silent cinema, which returned to the suggestive Parco Scherrer, 40 years after the first edition. Thanks also to the collaboration with Ceresio Estate, Ticino Musica, Associazione Amici dei Restauri del Complesso Monumentale di Morcote, the Quinn brothers, creators of “…senza Parole! and Morcote Turismo, we have managed to regain possession of the landscape, architectural and cultural beauty of the village, a beauty that we want to continue to tell through new and stimulating initiatives,” concludes Caratti.
Morcote and its Photo Spot of the Grand Tour of Switzerland await all visitors who wish to immortalise the village, its alleyways, porticos and patrician buildings. There will also be numerous activities in the coming months, always respecting the cultural tradition that distinguishes it.
