Genoa Boat Show: the 61st edition kicks off tomorrow

The traditional flag-hoisting ceremony, scheduled to take place at 10.30 am at the Terrace of the Blue Pavilion, will be enriched by the homage of ‘Nave Rizzo’, a Fremm unit of the Italian Navy recently employed in anti-piracy activities, which will parade along the port’s canal. This will be followed by the Inaugural Conference ‘Made in Italy, the country that drives the country’, where the protagonists will be the boating industry, fashion and design, in order to examine the relaunch opportunities offered by the beautiful and well-made sectors and the structural reforms to accompany them, from the restructuring of Genoa’s waterfront to the infrastructures planned in the NRP.

After the greetings of Carlo Bonomi, President of Confindustria, Enrico Giovannini, Minister for Infrastructures and Sustainable Mobility, Saverio Cecchi, President of Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici, Giovanni Toti, President of Regione Liguria, Carlotta de Bevilacqua, President and Ceo of Artemide, Renzo Rosso, President of Otb Group (Diesel), Carlo Maria Ferro, President of Ice Agenzia. The meeting will be moderated by the journalist Maria Latella. It’s a boom of exhibitors. The additional demand for space has determined the need to enlarge and redesign the layout of the Sailing, Motor Yacht and Maxi Rib Area; the Accessories Pavilion is also sold out. At 3.00 pm, in the Forum Hall of the Blue Pavilion, the much-awaited appointment with the 4th edition of the Boating economic forecast will be held, with the presence of Saverio Cecchi, Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Director of the Confindustria Nautica Studies Office, Marco Fortis, Vice-President of Fondazione Edison – Professor of Industrial Economics and Foreign Trade at Cattolica University. The round table will have as guests Carlo Maria Ferro, Barbara Beltrame Giacomello, Confindustria Vice President for Internationalization, Mauro Alfonso, Simest CEO, Carlo Mescieri, Assilea President, Alessandro Mazzoni, Senior Broker & Business Developer Equinoxe International.

During the conference, the new edition of Nautica in Cifre (Boating in Figures) will be presented. This is the statistical yearbook produced by Confindustria Nautica’s Studies Office in partnership with Fondazione Edison, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport. The report, now in its 42nd edition, provides companies, institutions and operators with sector data and key analyses to deepen the economic picture of the Italian pleasure boating industry.

Then, in the Forum Hall, starting at 4.45 pm, the Conference ‘Boating, the new Italian flag – From the reform of the Code to that of the implementing regulation, to the sector decrees, the simplifications aimed at making the national flag more competitive’ will kick off, organised by Confindustria Nautica with the Director General of Maritime Transport, Teresa Di Matteo, the Commander General of the Port Authorities, Nicola Carlone, and the Vice-President of Confindustria Nautica, Maurizio Balducci. Also on September 16, the programme of events will start at the Breitling Theatre, starting at 2.30 pm with the Press Conference of the Italian Harbour Offices – Coast Guard Corps, followed by the Guardia di Finanza Conference.

On the opening day of the Boat Show the RoundItaly Genoa-Trieste will start, the longest non-stop regatta in the Mediterranean Sea with 1,130 miles of sailing – organised by Yacht Club Italiano, Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, Barcolana and Confindustria Nautica with the involvement of the Italian Sailing Federation – which will unite the two cities, the 61st edition of the Genoa Boat Show with the 53rd edition of the Barcolana, two great events that have been working together for years for the culture and defence of the sea.
