Opens Fieracavalli. More than 200 events including races, shows and conferences

Verona, 6 November 2019 – More than 200 events including sports competitions, exhibitions and conferences with a single protagonist: the horse, present from tomorrow to Sunday at Veronafiere, with 2,400 specimens of 60 breeds from around the world. Twelve pavilions, with all the outdoor areas occupied for a total area of over 300 thousand square meters; 750 companies from 25 countries; buyers from 18 countries and 35 breeding associations. These are the numbers of the 121st edition of Fieracavalli, the international exhibition dedicated to the equestrian world taking place from 7 to 10 November at the Verona fairgrounds.

The inauguration is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. in front of Hall 1, in the presence of the President of Veronafiere Maurizio Danese, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Giuseppe L’Abbate, the President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia, the Mayor of Verona Federico Sboarina, the Vice-President of the Province David Di Michele and the President of the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation Marco Di Paola.
This year Fieracavalli Academy is launched, an ambitious project that aims to promote a new ethical approach to the world of horses and a culture that is increasingly respectful of animal welfare and the environment.
Fieracavalli Academy is in fact divided into five areas: sport, animal welfare, western horse riding, equitourism-sustainability and social.

Central, as usual, is the sporting soul of Fieracavalli, whose most eagerly awaited event is the only Italian stage of the Show Jumping World Cup, the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM.
There are a total of 11 competition fields for a total of 16,700 square meters, plus four outdoor covered areas (2,800 square meters) and three test fields (1,750 square meters), with grandstands that can accommodate 10,000 spectators in all.
The western riding disciplines are also part of the overall design of the Fieracavalli Academy, which works closely with the Elementa Masters circuit: thanks to this collaboration, this year at the fair an international reining premiere debuts, organized according to strict ethical standards.

At Fieracavalli 2019 there is also the forum area AGSM “The journey that changes – Paths of sustainable tourism”, in Hall 1, a space dedicated to meetings and seminars on tourism in the saddle held by Earth Academy and Ciset.

Also in pavilion 1, there is the Children’s Village, dedicated to the youngest visitors, a play and interactive space where every year more than 20,000 young people meet to have fun learning about the equestrian world. Tomorrow at 9 a.m. there will also be “Un cavallo per amico” (A horse for a friend), an event aimed at primary and secondary schools in the province of Verona, promoted by Veronafiere and organised in collaboration with the Education Department of the Municipality of Verona, the Verona VII School Office, Banco BPM and Cattolica Assicurazioni.
Great expectations, finally, for the Gala d’Oro, the equestrian art show that since 1987 brings on the stage of Fieracavalli in Verona the best international artists. The show is scheduled from tomorrow to Saturday in Hall 8.
The numbers of the equestrian sector in Italy. There are 510,000 equidae in the Italian register and they are not just horses. The total includes also the “cousins” donkeys (89 thousand) and mules (7 thousand) and the most exotic “relatives” such as zebras (140), zebrals (8) and zebrasini (5). There are 5,000 companies and farms directly linked to the horse business and they employ 48,000 direct workers, 19,000 of whom are breeders. There are 2,000 equestrian centers and 4,500 farms with facilities dedicated to the reception of horses.
