Italian by Collodi, Ariosto and Fo for the ‘Language Week’

The Pinocchio of Collodi, the ‘Mistero buffo’ of Dario Fo, the works of Ludovico Ariosto represented in the world during the ‘Week of the Italian language’ promoted as every year by the Farnesina and that for the 2019 edition is dedicated to Italian on stage. From 21 to 27 October the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes will organize more than a thousand events, meetings and performances in more than 110 countries to show the richness of our language, among the most studied in the world.

Among the events scheduled there is, for example, the linguistic path of Italian that from the works of Ludovico Ariosto to those of Dario Fo, staged at the Institute of Culture in Addis Ababa. Or the meeting to unveil “the secrets of the Traviata” hosted by the Italian Embassy in Washington. Or the performance of “Mistero buffo” at the Institute of Culture in Munich, Germany, but also the performance of pianist Paolo Restani in Stockholm or finally, in Tokyo, the now customary day of educational updating, thanks to the collaboration between the Italian Institute of Culture and Reggio Children. In Rome, instead, the international students of the University Rome 3 will read plays and operas on the historic stage of the Palladium Theatre.

The Week of the Italian Language in the World, now in its nineteenth edition also this year has the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, and is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with MIUR, MiBACT, RAI, the Academy of Bran, the General Council for Italians Abroad and the Dante Alighieri Society, as well as by the diplomatic-consular network of the Swiss Confederation.
