The sacred landscape of the Passoliera


Monasterace, Reggio Calabria (Italy) – The Archaeological Museum of ancient Kaulon joins the celebration of the National Day of Landscape promoted by the MiBAC proposing, Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 17:00, the initiative The sacred landscape of the Passoleera – Architectural terracottas tell the story of the… .

On this occasion, the results of recent research conducted by Greta Balzanelli, PhD student at the University of Pisa, on at least 300 fragments of pottery kept in the warehouses of the Museum will be made known.

This study, as well as proposing new interpretations of the findings belonging to the same group of architectural terracottas, found at the beginning of the last century and forming part of the permanent museum exhibition, allows to broaden the knowledge of the sacred landscape of Caulonia of the archaic age and the role played by the sacred area of the Passoliera.
