Great Langhe

Italy, Alba – The fourth edition of Grandi Langhe Doc and Docg, scheduled for 28 and 29 January 2019, is already an event for Italian and foreign trade operators. Not only for the number of wines proposed, thanks to the introduction of those with Denomination of Controlled Origin, but also because it will be an opportunity to taste the new vintages of Barolo (2015), Barbaresco (2016) and Roero (2016).

More than 250 wineries, 1,500 labels for tasting, buyers, sommeliers, wine merchants and wine professionals from all over the world.

It will also be an edition full of novelties: in fact, the location, period and number of days will change. Grandi Langhe will be entirely hosted in Alba, the capital of wine and white truffles, chosen as the beating heart and reference point of this land where viticulture has been the soul of the economy for centuries. Moreover, the other great novelty introduced by the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani and the Consorzio del Roero is the anticipation of the event to the month of January, which will allow professionals and journalists (to whom the event is reserved) to taste the first ever new vintages directly in the territories that gave them life and before the start of the season of major international fairs.

A real preview, therefore, thanks to a single location and the presence of all the wines on both days, will allow participants not to have to choose and not to miss anything of this new “48 hours”.

In Alba, the exhibition spaces will be divided according to the municipalities of origin of the different wineries: an orderly territorial division, to allow participants to appreciate the variety of the product, the result of passionate work on the hills of the area of the men and women of the Langhe. An opportunity to take full advantage of the value of the Geographical Mentions (MGA) of Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero and Diano and to learn about the other wines of the area.

As in 2013, tastings of numerous types and labels are planned and, above all, it will be possible to meet directly with the producers, who, like no other, are able to tell the origin, passion and tradition that are mixed in every single bottle generated in the land of the wines: the Great Langhe.
