Vermentino Challenge 2018

The second edition of the “Pop Competition among Winegrowers” is about to cut the starting belt. Next July 7th, at Borgo Magliano Resort, award for the excellence of the prestigious label.

They have called it “Pop Competition among Vintners”, certainly not to diminish its importance but, if ever, to accentuate the rise of a wine that continues to grow not only in quality but also in popularity.

The challenge was born in 2017 and has even exceeded the most optimistic expectations of the staff so that this second edition sees increased participation of producers who live this event as an extraordinary showcase for the Vermentino of Maremma, an important testimony of the land of Tuscany, Tyrrhenian grape that offers a wine with fruity accents, fresh and drinkable, perfect with summer food.

Borgo Magliano Resort will host the participants and create that great party that includes not only tastings but also seminars, entertainment, good music and food.

The focus of the event are of course the prizes, a task entrusted to a qualified jury selected from journalists, sommeliers and experts who will proceed to the final standings after a blind tasting.

The companies will participate with a single wine, vintage 2017, production of Vermentino Doc Maremma Toscana or IGT Toscana, entirely from vineyards in the province of Grosseto.

The event will take place on July 6 (only for the jury) and July 7 with the opening to the public from 19.30 for visiting the stands with tastings and buffet and at 21:00 with the announcement of the winner.

Visitors will have the opportunity to taste the wines of the participating wineries at tasting tables where, in addition to the labels in the race, will find other gastronomic excellence.

The companies that have confirmed their participation (but some new late entry is not excluded!) are:

  • Fattoria Mantellassi – Cacciagrande – Terre d’Etruria – La Badiola – Agricola del Nudo – Bruni – La Selva – Val di Toro – Massi di Mandorlaia – Morri’s Farm – Fattoria di Magliano – Vini di Maremma – Cantina dei Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano – Vini di Maremma – Santa Lucia – Val delle Rose (vincitore della prima edizione) – Fertuna – La Madonna – Casteani – Tenute Bruni Alessio – Monteverro – La Parrina – Monterò – Serraiola.

An appointment not only for connoisseurs but also for all those who love good drinking.
