The Baroque soul of Antwerp on stage today, from Rubens to Tuymans

Among the masterpieces of the past and contemporary creativity, the versatile Antwerp celebrates its Baroque soul: at the start today, June 1, Antwerp Baroque 2018. Rubens inspires, the programme of exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances and temporary events that the city of Flanders dedicates to its most illustrious citizen Pieter Paul Rubens, creating an evocative dialogue between his work and that of the great names of the past and present.

From today and throughout 2018 Rubens, the Baroque and its contemporary influences will be at the centre of the scene, transforming Antwerp into an open-air museum, revealing the Baroque traces that the city preserves, inaugurating new and important exhibitions and enhancing the already rich permanent cultural offer of museums, houses and churches linked to the seventeenth-century movement of which Rubens is the spokesman.
