Ceramics by Tuscany

From June 15 to 17, 2018, Montelupo Fiorentino (FI) will host the 26th edition of Cèramica – International Ceramic Festival, between design, tradition and hypothesis about the near future.

Ceramics speak. It tells stories of materials through soft or squared shapes and enchants the gaze that does not stop at the immediate function of the object but, on the contrary, digs into its past to discover a close link with reality and the art of which it is an expression.

Already in the sixteenth century, Montelupo Fiorentino – about 30 kilometers from Florence – was a center of reference for the production of dishes and objects of noble families such as Medici, Strozzi and Pandolfini. Today – and for the 26th time – it is the heart of a fragile but very strong world that for three days wants to tell its story from an even different point of view.

From June 15 to 17, 2018, the International Ceramics Festival – now known simply as Céramica – renews the invitation to discover a unique story, unraveled this year on the thread of “The ceramics of everyday life.

With over 30 exhibitors for the Market Exhibition, 35 exhibitions and installations set up in every corner of the city, more than 30 events, demonstrations, meetings, visits to companies and plays of light, what warms up your muscles before entering the scene is a party that is committed to rethinking the spaces of the city, featuring them with specific themes to remember the ancient splendor but look to the future.

Céramica 2018, while not forgetting the history of local manufacturing that has its roots in the Renaissance, focuses on innovation and the search for a contemporary language. It is no coincidence that they have been invited to exhibit artists with original figures, who often propose artistic interventions “out of context”. The attempt for 2018 is to present ceramics in a new form

The places will be divided to emphasize the production of Montelupo – with particular attention to the most original and lesser known aspects – on design and high craftsmanship ceramics and artist, with installations, exhibitions en plein air and the involvement of important names of contemporary art and young creatives under 30.
